Careers and progression planning

Two pupils in uniform

“Without some help and tools to manage their interactions with the (learning and labour) market, students are vulnerable to being misled and may subsequently make poorly  informed choices... Career support describes a range of services and relationships that people draw upon in order to help them to make decisions, navigate changes, deal with adversity and maximise their personal and economic  potential.”

Professor Tony Watts, Enhancing Choice, Dec 2010

Today’s progression routes, qualification frameworks and careers programme strategies are complicated and the challenges facing effective learner transition can be complex and difficult to manage. We have the range of knowledge and expertise that can tailor support for you and meet the transition needs of your delivery teams, your learners, and their parents.

Our careers and progression planning offers are presented in three areas:

Managing the curriculum
When you’re planning and managing your careers IAG, PHSE and WRL programmes, we can support you with a professional ‘pick and mix’ of materials, advice, training and direct delivery, saving you both time and resources. From planning and management to delivery, evaluation and curriculum and professional development, we can make it happen for you.

Activities for learners (and their parents)

Students need to effectively plan their career paths, make good, informed choices and record their achievements. Meeting these career and progression needs is our expertise. We can provide you with off-the-peg or tailored career planning activities, approaches and advice for all key stages and for key themes. These could include key stage programmes, cross curricular developments, options events, effective use of resources, one-to-one work, challenging stereotypes and using electronic resources such as Passportfolio (our local e-portfolio).

Our experts know and actively research the local and national labour market and then translate their knowledge and insight into fun, interactive, informative and practical resources, lessons and training to encourage you and your students to think and enable them to make more positive steps to smarter progression decisions.
