Work-related learning

Welder

“We’re looking for someone who has proven they can do well  academically, with excellent people skills and a good work ethic. I’ve met some incredible young people today, with amazing potential. If there were two young people from different schools and one of them had experienced an Interview Skills Day then I think that young person has a much better chance of getting the job!”

Andy Wilson, Managing  Director of TTS, large  education supplier

Our work-related learning listings are split into four main categories:

The activities and products in this section are delivered by Education Business Futures (EBF). EBF has years of experience delivering high quality work-related learning packages to young people at school and college.

Employability skills
When recruiting, employers are looking for a wide range of skills and abilities. Qualifications and academic success certainly count, but so do practical employability skills, such as working as part of a team, communication and interview skills. Employers consistently tell us that school leavers aren’t adequately equipped with these types of skills. Our employability skills programmes address these employer concerns.

We cover activities including interview skills, business and enterprise skills, planning, communication, problem solving, presentations, team work and much more!

Work experience
With the right support, preparation and reflection, work experience can deliver a large part of the work-related learning that young people are entitled to. A range of work-related learning activities will complement each other and encourage progression, if combined coherently, enabling learning to take place within and between programmes. EBF is the work-experience provider for Nottinghamshire. We hold an extensive database of employer details and placement opportunities. The database is easily searchable for quality assured work placements, which cover all sector areas.

Brokerage services
EBF has a proven track record for brokerage and building successful partnerships between education and business. Employers can help create dynamic learning opportunities for young people, raising their aspirations and attainment levels while ensuring they develop essential skills. We have a database of local employer contacts so why not let us do the hard work and arrange employer support for your events and activities?

Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are perennially popular with young school leavers, often with demand outstripping supply of places. This year, there is likely to be interest from young people considering alternatives to full time HE, especially as some Apprenticeships offer progression to employer-sponsored HE qualifications in fields such as accountancy, engineering and ICT.
